The following are selected reports from the Seattle Police Department’s West Precinct. They represent the officers’ accounts of the events described.

Quick Escalation

Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on June 4, police responded to the 500 block of Third Avenue West after a man reported a stranger pulled a gun on him on the sidewalk.

The victim told the 911 operator that about 30 minutes prior to his call the suspect — who was still outside the building — had pulled a gun on him out front. When police arrived the suspect was gone, the victim said he’d ran off while he was on the phone with 911.

He said the incident happened when he went outside to walk his dog. The suspect walked up to him, walking northbound on the west side of the sidewalk. The victim said, “excuse me,” to the suspect as he walked past. Then, the suspect pulled out a silver revolver with a black handle, pointed it at the victim and his dog, and threatened to kill them both.

The suspect was last seen running northbound on Third Avenue West. Police searched the area, but were unable to locate him.

Soap Thief

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on June 2, police responded to a shoplifting incident at a store in the 500 block of Queen Anne Avenue North.

An employee reported that a regular shoplifter came in and stole about $80 worth of body wash. She stated that the suspect is one of two identical twin brothers who shoplift from the store on a daily basis. Both brothers are criminally trespassed from the store.

On this day the suspect entered the store and grabbed the body wash before walking out without paying.

While walking out, he told the employees that he loved them.

Cigarette Theft

At approximately 4:15 a.m. on June 1, police responded to an alarm break at a store in the 2100 block of West Emerson Place.

The front door was pried open and several display cases had been knocked over. The owner responded while police were still on scene and said the following had been taken: $300 in cash from the register (which had been left open), about $2,000 worth of cigarettes, another $2,000 worth of vapes, and a bunch of flashlights.

Surveillance video showed one suspect prying the door open with a four-foot crow bar and coming into the store to take the cash and load a bag with cartons of cigarettes and vapes.

After that suspect left the scene, a second suspect came in and jumped over the counter to take more packs of cigarettes. On his way out he took an entire display of lighters.
