Margaret “Peggy” Marteny passed away on July 1, 2018 in Seattle, WA.  She was born on May 5, 1919, and raised in Bethlehem, PA, the daughter of the late John J. and Anna (Magyarics) Sipos, and the youngest of four children (Helen, John, and Catherine).  She attended college in Philadelphia and Hunter College in New York City where she worked before going to work with Lago Oil and Transport Co. in Aruba. There she met and married her husband of 59 years, Ed Marteny.  Peggy was active in the Women’s Club and scouts in Aruba. She was also a member of and learned to fly after WW II with the Aruba Flying Club. She enjoyed telling the story of her first solo flight as Aruba has some
special winds.

After retiring from Lago, Peggy and Ed moved to Dawsonville, GA where they lived for many years.  She volunteered for decades for the American Red Cross and the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary.  Peggy also enjoyed her book groups and Grandmothers Club.

Peggy will be lovingly remembered by her son, John Marteny of Valle, AZ, daughter, Ann C. and son-in-law
Steve Miller, and grandsons Taylor Miller and Nicholas Miller of Seattle.
