Seattle Parks and Recreation is offering free weekend beach shuttle service at Discovery Park now through Sept. 1.

The shuttle will provide service 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, from the park’s visitor center, north and beach parking lots.

All lots are a 1.5-mile walk to the beach, using the Loop Trail to connect to three access trails.

Additionally, there are 12 beach parking spaces being made available by the King County Wastewater Treatment Facility, which includes two handicap spaces.

The permits are for people with children under 6, people over 62, and people with limited mobility. SPR staff provides the three-hour permits from the Discovery Park Visitor Center, 3801 Discovery Park Blvd., from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday. Users must return the permits when done.
